Blessing or Curse? Faiths in a Global Order by Miroslav Volf 30.05.2013

Does globalization need the wisdom of world religions? Globalization enables the flourishing of human lives, yet its "losers" often cannot satisfy their basic needs, while its "winners" often find that they don't lead meaningful lives. Religions can exacerbate the situation, creating further division, yet their wisdom can enable humanity to reach beyond itself to others and counter the instrumental rationality that globalization often brings.

Miroslav Volf is the Founder and Director of Yale Center for Faith and Culture and Henry B. Wright Professor of Theology, Yale University. His most significant books include Exclusion and Embrace (winner of Grawemeyer Award in Religion); After Our Likeness; Allah: A Christian Response; and A Public Faith: On How Followers of Christ Should Serve the Common Good. Volf is actively involved in many top-level initiatives concerning Christian-Muslim relations and is a member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum.
