The QU4RTETS project began as a search of how a work of art and one’s creative practice embedded in the Christian faith tradition could mediate grieves of personal and public devastation toward a sense of regeneration and hope. In the spirit of the QU4RTETS, Hong Kong-based dance group Passoverdanceand Tokyo-based dancer Airi Suzuki present two dance acts as similar expressions of finding hope amid the rubble of loss or suffering.
Choreographed by Pewan Chow, Passoverdance presents Xin Xiang “馨香” - a 30-min trio piece featuring dancers Antoinette Mak, Rebecca Wong, and Sze Ling Wong - based on the imagery of a tree as an expression of self-realisation, resilience and self-contentment through the seasons of life's journey. Following Xin Xiang, Airi Suzuki presents a 30-min duo-piece as a parallel but more intimate response to Xin Xiang in the form of a personal reflection of gaps in human relationships, and the possible means of transcending them.
A dialogue between Passoverdance, Airi Suzuki and the audience will follow after the performance.
