A career is not just about finding success but dealing with values. The Faith at Work series provides a platform for HKU Alumni to share some of the moral issues and dilemmas that have shaped - and sometimes mis-shaped - their careers.

Antony Leung is Senior Managing Director, Chairman of Greater China of The Blackstone Group and a member of the firm's Executive Committee.  He is based in Hong Kong. 

Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Leung was the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong from 2001 to 2003.  From 1997 to 2001, he was a non-official member of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Education Commission. 

Prior to his appointment as Hong Kong's Financial Secretary, Mr. Leung had 28 years of financial services experience. He was the Chairman of Asia for JP Morgan Chase based in Hong Kong. Before that he worked for Citi in Hong Kong, Singapore, Manila and New York for 23 years in various positions including Country Corporate Officer for China and Hong Kong, Regional Treasurer for North Asia, Head of Investment Banking for North Asia, South West Asia and Head of Private Banking for Asia. 

Other community service that Mr. Leung engaged in included Chairman of the University Grants Committee, member of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, board of Hong Kong Airport Authority, director of the Hong Kong Futures Exchange, Preparatory Committee of Hong Kong Special Administration Region and Election Committee and Hong Kong Affairs Advisors to the Chinese Government.  Past board membership included independent director of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Mobile, American International Assurance, international advisory board member of China Development Bank and European Advisory Group. 

  Mr. Leung graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1973, and attended Harvard Business School's Program for Management Development and Advanced Management Program.  For his public service in Hong Kong, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong Government and an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. He was conferred an honorary Doctor of Law by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. 

Mr. Leung is currently Vice Chairman of China Bluestar Group, Non-Executive Vice Chairman of China Merchants Capital, International Advisory Board member of Peking University's Guanghua School of Management, Chairman of Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong and Chairman of Heifer International Hong Kong.
